Public Safety
The Pohatcong Township Police Department is committed to Public Safety and reducing the number of motor vehicle collisions at our intersetions. Starting August 2011 our department began utilizing advanced video / computer technology in order to help make our streets safer for motorist and their families.

New Jersey Statute for Red Light Cameras
In part N.J.S.A. 39:4-8.15 states that;

1) The owner and operator shall be jointly liable for a traffic control signal violation summons issued, unless the owner can show that the vehicle was used without consent, expressed or implied.

2) An owner who pays any fine, penalty, civil judgment, costs or administrative fees in connection with a traffic control signal violation has the right to recover that sum from the operator in a court of competent jurisdiction.

3) In no case shall motor vehicle points or automobile insurance eligibility points be assess against any person for a violation.

How To Pay A Violation
On the citation you have received, there will be instructions on how to pay the citation. In many cases, the violation can be paid online. You will need to have the citation with you in order to enter the notice and pin numbers.
