The Warren County Junior Police Academy was founded and developed by Pohatcong Township's Lt. Dean M. McBride, who served five years as the Academy's Director from 2002 through 2006. During which time the Pohatcong Township Police Department had co-sponsored the Academy with the Warren County Prosecutor's Office.
Due in part to its county-wide jurisdiction, in 2007 the Warren County Chief's of Police Association had assumed Pohatcong Township's co-sponsorship of the Academy with the prosecutor's office.
