About Your Police Chief
A police officer for 22 years, his law enforcement career began in 1987 with the Pohatcong Township Police Department. In 1990 Chief Hager was assigned as detective for the police department. He served in that capacity until 2002. He worked his way through the Pohatcong Township Police Department's rank structure being promoted to Detective/Sergeant in 1996 and to Chief of Police in October of 2002. He received his BA in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ in May of 2009. He is a graduate of the West Point Command and Leadership Program, the FBI’s Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, in 2008 received his designation as a Certified Law Enforcement Executive through the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police. In January 2007 Chief Hager attended the prestigious FBI National Academy's 228th session, in Quantico, Virginia. Only 1/2 of 1% of law enforcement officials world wide are fortunate enough to attend the FBI National Academy. During the eleven weeks spent at the Academy, the chief completed 17 credits of instruction via the University of Virginia and completed the famed Yellow Brick Road Marine Corps obstacle course. Chief Hager is a certified police instructor in the State of New Jersey and teaches many topics including Methods of Instruction at the satellite campus of the Somerset County Police Academy located at the Warren County Community College. He has been awarded 4 commendations, 3 through the Pohatcong Police Department. In addition the Chief received a Special Recognition certificate from the United State’s Attorney’s Office for his work in the successful prosecution of a sexual assault case in 1994.

He is member for the Warren County Chief’s of Police Association since 2003 serving as secretary and currently vice-president of the Association and is also an active member with the New Jersey State Association of Chief's of Police. The Chief is a member with the FBI- National Academy Associates - New Jersey Chapter; International Association of Chiefs of Police.
