Riegelsville is the southern most town in Warren County at the mouth of the Musconetcong River. The water power here was harnessed by John W. Riegel for a gristmill and by Warren Manufacturing Co. for paper making. The bridge across the Delaware River was first built here in 1838. In 1797 Thomas Pursell built a sawmill at the mouth of the Musconetcong River. This was later purchased by John L. Riegel to secure water rights.
