This house, built in 1790, is shown on the Beers atlas as being part of the Smith farm. There was a barn added in 1850. This farm over the years was used for vegetables, orchards, livestock and poultry. In the early days, the house was a hotel for loggers. The loggers would float their logs down the Delaware to Philadelphia. At the end of the day they would boom their logs up at Pincher's Point eddy, then eat and sleep at this house. During the 1955 flood, the water was 3 feet into the first floor.
