The stone, 3 story bank house was the original structure on this site. It consists of 3 rooms. On the ground floor was the kitchen with walk-in fireplace, pie stairs to the street level was living area with fireplace. Another set of pie stairs takes you to the 3rd floor which may have been the sleeping area. Little is known about this site. It is thought to be built in the late 1700’s. It has been said that is was a stage coach stop and a single family residence. Years of abandonment has taken its toll. The wood frame and stone addition was added around 1860. This housed the Dilts’s general store and the Finesville post office. Later it was the office of Howard Fine Insurance Agency. It has been vacant since 1992. |
